How it works

Who we are

CST is a provider of paddlesport activities for groups of people, such as a youth club, a school class, a group of friends or a mixed group of people from your workplace.

We have limited facilities for individual participation, which is prohibitively expensive, instead we offer a variety of courses that can teach you to become a good paddler, learn to qualified so you can run your own sessions. For the youngsters (11-16) we run Paddlesport Camps providing access to a wide range of paddlesports in one, two, three and four day packages.

Bury Lake, Rickmansworth Aquadrome

Canoe Sports Trust works closely with a number of organisations for mutual benefit, with all organisations operating from facilities managed by Bury Lake Young Mariners. Bury Lake is located within the Rickmansworth Aquadrome and is renowned for its crystal clear water provided by fresh water springs rising from the Chiltern aquifer.

Facilities

Bury Lake Young Mariners and Nomad Kayak Club, together provide us access to some great facilities.

Shore based facilities include state of the art changing rooms with hot showers and ample outdoor space for the organisation of activities and people.

Should you wish to bring lunch or cook on a barbeque, we have a picnic area and a barbeque you can use.

Our Clients

A wide range of youth organisations access our facilities by providing their own qualified leadership, where an organisation or school is unable to access qualified leadership, we can provide qualified instructors to deliver your activity for you.

In 2024 visitors included scouts, guides, junior and secondary schools, soldiers, children’s parties and corporate clients. The public can also access our facilities provided bookings are made in advance because we are unable to provide a drop in service.

What we offer

Each year the Trust runs a variety of courses instructing newcomers in a range of paddlesports or providing the required coaching to those wishing to become qualified instructors. We host evening, daytime and all day activities with clients accessing between one and four activities on a single visit. During the school holidays we run paddlesport camps and fun day events.

For those interested, we also run programmes specifically aimed at those participating in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

Our Instructors

AALA requires all of our instructors to be suitably qualified, adhere to our operations manual and comply with our risk management documentation. If you do not have your own qualified instructors able to run your activities, we can provide qualified instructors to manage your activity for you.

Opportunities are provided each year for group leaders to obtain qualifications sufficient for them to safely manage their own activities.

Qualified Instructors join our team to gain more experience in the delivery of activity whilst having a great time on the water.

The pupils and staff loved the days we had with you on July. I am now looking to July 2025 for the same thing.
