-->Whitsun sees a range of courses specifically aimed at providing tuition for those that wish to acquire a basic competance in a range of paddlesport craft, our first course focusses on the Kayak.
Kayaks are paddlesport craft that you sit in facing forward with your feet out in front of you. On the course we will introduce you initially to the sit on top kayak and later in the sit inside kayak.
Both craft use a double bladed paddle and we will show you how these work before we go afloat. The aim of the course will be to show you how to launch, get in to the boat, paddle forwards, backwards and to tur, what to do should you fall in and how to get out of the kayak when you have returned to shore. The course will be taken at your speed giving you every opportunity to become an expert at the basics.
The first half of the course will be in the sit on top which is easier to get in and out of and we will give you whatever assistance you require to get the hang of the paddle before we try out the sit in Kayak in the second half of the course.
This course assumes you are a complete beginner when it comes to kayaking, the course is equally suited to som eone who has not paddled for years and is prepared to start over again as a means of getting back in to paddlesports.
During the course we may play a few games that may involve you getting wet. Wetsuits can be provided should you think require one.
This course is suited to anyone aged 13 or older.
