Managed Group Leaders Day – Saturday 28th March 2026 (601)
Following on from the success of our leaders update and basic training days run in recent years, this year we turn our focus towards anyone who delivers their own activities by providing specific activity management training to ensure everyone is aligned to the same operating processes and that everyone adopts the same good practices when delivering paddlesports.
As popularity for paddlesports continues to grow, it is not uncommon to have over 60 people enjoying paddlesports at the same time, with groups sometimes experiencing difficulty competing for limited facilities.

Overcoming congestion both on shore and afloat, has required us to review how we operate so that we can better manage multiple activities at the same time, better managing shore facilities, launch facilities and water space.
This course will focus on improved group management, aligning leaders with CSTs and BLYMs standard operating proceedures and providing a forum for sharing ideas and proven best practices with the aim of helping leaders deliver a quality paddlesport experience, whilst being familiar and able deal with situations that might occur.
Leaders from any youth organisation (Scouts, Guides, Youth clubs and Schools) that either delivered or assisted others in delivering activities in 2025 should be attending this course.
Workshops will run through the day, with drinks available during breaks and a CST provided BBQ lunch, with shore based sessions including: New kit familiarisation; Meet and greet best practices; Best knots for raft builders; Managing a dry change /wet change; Shore based warm ups; Maximising water time in a 90 minute session
Wet sessions include; Mastering the Coracle; Dragonboat capsize drill; Launching multiple craft quickly and efficiently, Proven paddlesport games; Bribery methods to encourage fast and dry get disembarking; All in rescues.
With lunch provided, please bring your own named mug and your paddling gear, wetsuits can be provided.
Booking for this course is now open, with you required to complete the declarations up front to save administration effort later. Places are limited to 32 each day. Should you have any training wants, let us know and we will do our best to include them.
